About

David and Ginny Capps own and operate The Fisherman’s Lodge as well as Capps Guide Service Inc in Cotter, Arkansas. David started his guiding career on Arkansas’s White River in 1978 guiding for area trout fishing resorts. In 1987, he and Ginny were married and in 1993 David and Ginny opened Capps Guide Service Inc., offering guided trout fishing trips on the White River.

Over the next 10 years their trout guide business on Arkansas’s White River grew to the extent they needed a group lodging facility that would provide the amenities needed for their clients while in the area. In 2003, they opened The Fisherman’s Lodge and have never looked back! The Fisherman’s Lodge is perfect for holding corporate team meetings and/or fishing trips on the White River for Rainbow and Brown Trout.

David has Guided Trout Fisherman for over 40 years on Arkansas’s White River and is a licensed Coast Guard Captain. In 2011 as well as 2017, 2018 and 2019 he traveled to Alaska during July – September and fulfilled a lifelong dream of guiding fishermen for Trout and Salmon on a river in the Alaskan bush. David and Ginny have three children that grew up fishing the White River with their dad and all three kids (who are now grown) have been a big help to their mom and dad when asked to lend a hand with day to day operations at the Lodge.

What is The Fisherman’s Lodge?

The Lodge is “base camp” for our guided trout fishing trips and is close to pretty much everything needed including access to the White River.

The Fisherman’s Lodge offers complete White River trout fishing trip packages for individuals and large fishing groups of all types. David Capps, your host, has over 40 years of qualified experience guiding and outfitting both large and small groups fishing for trout on Arkansas’s White River. Everything you need, he can provide – your meals, your tackle, your lodging, your White River Guides and your boats. Hold a meeting in our Conference Center, and then go fishing, play Golf, or do both!

Add a golf outing to your White River Fishing Package and we’ll reserve tee times for you at Big Creek Golf & Country Club. Big Creek is one of Arkansas’s Top Championship 18 Hole Golf Courses and has been rated by Golf Digest as one of the Top 100 Courses to play every year since 2005. This little gem of a track is only 15 minutes from our lodge!

Why Choose the Fisherman’s Lodge?

Referencing what many of our repeat customers tell us; it won’t be the 30-plus trout you catch every day, or the home-cooked meals, or the comfort of a fresh and modern lodge, or even the surprisingly affordable price to add to this long list of pleasures. When we ask our repeat guests why they come back and visit us trip after trip? They say it’s because of our genuine old-fashioned Southern Hospitality that we try and serve every minute of their stay.
